Operating principles
Yle’s operations are governed by the Act on Yleisradio Oy. The act defines the duties of Yle's public service media, as well as the duties of the Administrative Council and the Board of Directors.
Our operations are also based on ethical guidelines and instructions. Yle's strategy directs future goals and operational principles. Yle Code of Conduct binds all Yle's operations, and every employee, freelancer and partner working for Yle.

The Act on Yleisradio Oy
The Act on Yleisradio Oy defines the duties of Yle's public service media, as well as duties of the Administrative Council and the Board of Directors.
The Act on Yle Tax
The Act on Yle tax defines the grounds for the public broadcasting tax payable by private persons and organisations. (Only in Finnish)
The Act on the State Television and Radio Fund
The Act on the State Television and Radio Fund lays down the provisions for funding Yle’s operations.
The Act on the Exercise of Freedom of Expression in Mass Media
The Act on the Exercise of Freedom of Expression in Mass Media (Finlex) defines, among other things, the duties of responsible editors.
The Act on Audiovisual Programmes
The Act on Audiovisual Programmes (Finlex) contains provisions on labels indicating the age limits for television programmes.

The Act on Yleisradio Oy states that Yle’s text-based content must relate to an Yle publication that contains moving pictures or sound. There are some exemptions to this.
